Sculptured Granite – The Coxs River

The Coxs River near its junction with Megalong Creek has cut through a granite batholith and left a beautiful landscape. Each year, before Xmas, members of Sydney University Bushwalkers go down to the river, to swim, to camp, and to celebrate the festive season with good food and drink.

The Six Foot Track in Megalong Valley provides good access to the River. It passes through attractive farming country before winding down to the River.

The campsite lies on a river flat separated from the river by granite boulders. This section of the river has a series of rapids and they provide some fun for swimmers or those on lilos.
