Sydney Cycleway Ride

On the Sunday of last weekend, I left around noon for a ride along some of Sydney’s best cycleways.

I started along the Cooks River Cycleway from Dulwich Hill and followed it to Homebush. Then a short bit of road cycling took me to the cycleways of Homebush Bay Bicentennial Park. I did a loop to the north of the park then cruised back near the Newington Housing Estate (the old Olympic Village) and then back west again along the M4 Cycleway. This runs neat to or under the motorway. I followed it to Harris Park near Parramatta. Then a short bit of footpath and road riding took me to the Fairfield to Liverpool Cycleway.

I turned off this at Guilford and followed a cycleway west along the old canal to Prospect Reservoir. Then I headed towards Fairfield by following the cycleway south to the City Farm and then back east along Orphan Creek to Canley Vale. Then a bit more road, but its not far to the cycleway along Prospect Creek to the Georges River. This ends at Milperra Rd. From here I road a couple of km along Henry Lawson Drive and then onto the on-road cycleway on the M5. I continued along that to Bexley and then road home via Earlwood. The whole ride was about 93km.

    Hi Dave,
going to visit Sydney in March. Around the 5th.
I am an ambitious mtb and roadbiker here in Europe.
I am going to shoot a documentary in Sydney from the 14th on so I do have some days of aclimatisation before hand. I don’t want to walk around Sydney only, but do some nice tours around also. MtB or Roadbike.
Do you have any recommendations where to go and also where to hire a good bike?
    MTB is between 800-1400hm
Roadbike a nice daytrip between 80-120km
All the best and thanks for any support.
    Tobi
