Wentworth Falls Walk – 1 Dec 2013

On the first day of December, I went for a walk around the Valley of the Water Area of Wentworth Falls. I started out by myself down the Charles Darwin Walk and soon arrived at Wentworth Falls, then went up to the carpark to meet up with Rik and Wendy.

The next part of the walk was down the Valley of the Waters, and then along Wentworth Pass to the base of Wentworth Falls and then up Slack Stairs to National Pass. Then up the upper fall and back along the Shortcut Track to the top of the Valley of the Waters.

On the way down the Charles Darwin Walk, I was able to enjoy the multitude of wildflowers that were out. Of particular note were the Callistemons  (Bottlebrush) with their brilliant red inflorescences.

The small cascades are also good places to pull out the camera and tripod.

When I met Rik and Wendy at the Wentworth Falls carpark – the carpark was full, so I got a lift with them to the Conservation Hut, where we were able to park a fair way out along the road.

There were lots of walkers enjoying the delights of the Valley of the Waters. I stopped a few times to photograph the waterfalls.

Lower down, we left the main track and walked along the Wentworth Pass Track. We followed this to the base of the lower of the two Wentworth Falls. This was a good place to stop for lunch.

Then back up Slack Stairs and along National Pass to the base of the upper falls, and a bit more photo-pfaffing before climbing up to the top.

More photographs on my website here.
