Fungi in the Lane Cove Valley – 30 March 2018

On Good Friday, I completed a nice walk down the Lane Cove Valley from Thornleigh to Porters Creek (and then to to Macquarie Park). I was looking for fungi and orchids.

There was a fair bit of fungi out at the start – on the track down Lorna Pass from Thornleigh Oval. Mainly Amanitas. But generally there was not that much out along the valley. Here is a selection –

At one point, I spotted a cluster of Coprinus atramentarius that showed a good range of ages showing how this fungus changes over a few hours.

And a few orchids –

And a slime mould –

More photos are online here on my website.
