Anvil Rock and Blue Gum Forest – 3-4 October 2012

This was a short trip to some nice places close to Blackheath to get a few photographs. Train to Blackheath and then bike the 8km to the Anvil Rock Lookout. This lookout is a great vantage point offers excellent views looking up the Grose Valley. I arrived there a little after 3pm and stayed till almost sunset.

It was nice wandering around with a camera and tripod.

Then it was back on the bike and around to Perrys Lookdown. I stashed the bike in the scrub and set off down the track to Blue Gum Forest. There was just enough twilight to see the way. I then went to Acacia Flat to set up camp.

I got up around 6am the next morning and set off again to Blu Gum Forest and spent an hour or two photographing. The light was not as I had hoped but Blue Gum  is always a very pleasant place to wander around in.

Then back to camp for breakfast and packing up. Before climbing out back up to Perrys Lookdown, I wandered around with the camera again for another half hour.

It was developing a warm day and the trudge up the Docker Buttress was hard in the heat – but near the top there was a welcome breeze. At the top – back on the bike and a brisk ride to Blackheath to catch my train home.
