Sassafras Gully Fungi – 25 March 2018

After seeing some reasonable fungi in Wolli Creek I thought it may be worthwhile looking for fungi at Sassafras Gully at Springwood. This was my first fungi walk there for this season.

The fungi was reasonable. On this trip, I started off down the track at the end of Sassafras Gully Road, walk down to Glenbrook Creek and then returned via Magdala Creek and Fairy Dell.

Quite a few boletes were out. Here are a few –

And here are some early waxcaps –

I also found two Cordyceps type fungi –

Ophiocordyceps robertsii

Nomuraea atypicola (or Cordyceps cylindrica?)

And some of the other fungi –

Also a slime mould –

Also a nice orchid was in flower –

Adelopetalum exiguum

More photos from the day are online here on my website.
