The SUBW Christmas Walk to the Coxs River 16 – 17 December 2017

Each year, not long before Christmas, a walk in organised by Sydney University Bushwalkers to the Coxs River. This year, the walk was organised by Ashley Burke.

I had gone up to Blackheath with Wendy, and we had first made a quick trip through the Grand Canyon. We then went to the village for lunch and then headed down to Megalong. Wendy parked at the Six Foot Track, and we set off for the river.

At the campsite on the river, we met up with Roger, and then soon many others joined us.

The water in the river was a bit low (0.49 m at the Glenroy Bridge gauge, last year it was 0.55 m) but the temperature was very nice. The river was the perfect place to cool off.

That evening, we had a great time sharing fine food and even finer wines….

Next morning, before the sun hit the river, I was able to get a few photos of the rapids and sculptured granite.

We then had a very lazy morning – spent eating, drinking cups of tea and swimming. After and early much we packed up and started the hot climb out. We were later abel to cool off with suitable refreshments at the Ivanhoe Hotel before a big thunderstorm hit.

Thanks to Ashley for organising the walk. More photos are online here on my website.
