Fungi in the Lane Cove and Chatswood Area – 15 June 2017

I had a very pleasant day in the Lane Cove areas looking for and photographing fungi. I started the day at a site near Lane Cove and found a reasonable amount of fungi out, including quite a few waxcaps.

I later went to Ferndale Park at Chatswood, and there the fungi was a bit better I thought.  One thing I was looking for was to see if any of the Ferndale Park – green/pink waxcaps were out. After a fair bit of searching, I only found one of them. A local resident, Peter Woodard, who originally told me about these had collected some specimens and sent them to the Herbarium at Orange and it seems they are a new species. Here is the one I spotted on the day –
