Tiger Snake Canyon

We visited this canyon on a wet day. Despite the continual rain – we had a great time. The canyon was very beautiful – and some water was flowing!

Here are a few photos from the day –

The last photo shows Su Li at the end of the Arch Chamber. It was this spot that two others (Steve McDowell and Bob Sault) and myself were trapped by a very angry tiger snake on the trip where we found the canyon back in 1977. We tried to bridge high above it – from the top of the arch, but that was too tricky. In the end, we managed to get past it by throwing a T shirt on top of it and then quickly passing through the thin section. We later retrieved the T shirt using a long stick. On another visit to the canyon in more recent times, we had difficulty getting past another tiger snake trapped in the first pool of the upper constriction.
