During the earlier part of the day we had visited two canyons. Later we set off and explored two small creeks - and found they both had impressive canyons in them. We first walked up both creeks from below.

Above - We walked up the first creek and found ourselves in the deep and dark canyon

Above - Martin, Rik and Michael - heading back downstream after being turned back by a waterfall. Later we returned and abseiled down it from above.

Above - Mark found this nice gecko in the second of the creeks. Not far above - we were again stopped by a waterfall. But this time there was a convenient pass nearby - so we could climb out and reach the headwaters.

Above - We then climbed out of the first creek and went and entered the headwaters of the second creek. The canyon started with this short drop.

Above - below was this brown snake - alive and very active. Earlier it had been coiled up on top of the only possible belay point for the next abseil. But Rik and Mark coaxed it back upstream. We all carefully went past it on a higher ledge

We then climbed up out of the creek, headed back to our campsite - and packed up and walked along the plateau to shelter in a cave - as it had started raining.

Above - this photo is of a very unusual spider we found at out next campsite - it looked more like a squid however - the way it had its legs sheltering its head
