Royal National Park – NPA Photo-shoot Morning 31 March 2015

Brian Everingham had organised an early morning photo-shoot session on the cliffs of Bundeena in the Royal National Park for the National Parks Association. Four others joined him – Ken, Michael, (another) David and myself.

The weather forecast was not encouraging for early morning shooting – rain. But Brian had already cancelled the activity once earlier due to an adverse forecast, and later woken up to a quite reasonable sunrise, so he was reluctant to cancel again.

As it turned out – we didn’t have rain, but we did have largely overcast conditions. But it was still nice to experience the atmosphere of dawn on these magnificent cliffs.

After sunrise, we headed back to Bundeena for breakfast, and then went to the nearby Bonnie Vale Wetlands for some bird photography. A highlight was observing a Night Nankeen Heron.

After that, a few of us went to Bola Creek and I showed the others – Brian and Ken, the best locations for observing the wonderful fungi there. Conditions were not as good as my previous visit as it had been a bit drier.

Thanks to Brian for organising this very pleasant activity. More photos can be viewed on my website here.
