Gore Hill to Hunters Hill Walk – 17 March 2015

This was a pleasant walk along part of the Sydney Harbour Circle Walk.

I set out from St Leonards Station and walked the short distance to Gore Hill and then into the Lane Cove Bushland Park. This is one of my favourite places to look for and photograph fungi and I wanted to check out what things were like there. As it turned out – it was too dry and probably too early in the season. I photographed a few things but no spectacular fungi was out.

So I continued on through the park to Lillipilli Falls in Gore Creek Reserve. The route then follows roads and pathways through Northwood and Longueville to a very nice bush track that goes down Tambourine Creek at Warrarona Reserve. At a natural arch in the creek, you cross the creek (on a wooden bridge) and then follow the track around the foreshores of Tambourine Bay to walk past St Iggys at Riverview.

Shame!!! - there were quite a few of these signs.

Then more pathways on the foreshore to Linley Point and then over Figtree Bridge to Hunters Hill. The route through Hunters Hill is a combination of road, alley and pathway. The most interesting parts are through Kellys Bush – the site of the World’s first green ban and and some pleasant foreshore walking at Clarke Point. The path then yes right around the large dry dock at Woolwich and from there, a short bit of road walking down to the Valencia St pier and the Ferry back to Circular Quay.
