Jinki Ridge – Wildflower Walk 22 September 2014

This was a lovely day out in the bush. Jinki Ridge is high above the Grose Valley. It is the usual exit path for visitors to Dalpurra Canyon – and it is also one of the best places in the Upper Blue Mountain to see wildflowers.

In the party were Rik, Digi Dave, Don and Elata as well as myself.

It is only a short walk – a kilometre or two out to a nice area of pagodas high above Dalpurra Creek. All of this area was burnt out in the bushfires of last summer but now seems to be recovering quite well.

As for wildflowers, we were probably a couple of weeks too early for the best display. But what we saw was certainly quite good. Lots and lots of Caladenia orchids were out. Very tiny – but easy to spot against the blackened soil.

For a lot more photos with attempts at their identification see my page here.
