Birds of the Cooks River

I’ve started a new project, to photograph the birds along the Cooks River, close to where I live.

I ride to work along the cycle track next to the river and I often see birds. With daylight saving, it is not too difficult to wander back down to the river before it gets dark with a camera and long lens.

Its very much a work in progress at present. Here are a few examples of my first foray with camera.

A few more pictures are on my website here. I’ll add to this gallery from time to time and try my best to add the names of the birds.

Your”Blue-billed Duck” is a male Chestnut Teal (blue-bills have a different silhouette and are rare visitors to Sydney’s outskirts).

Thanks Andrew. I will correct the caption on the gallery page. I am a novice at bird identification – and just compared photos on an internet page.
