South Lawson and South Hazelbrook – Waterfall Walk – 30 June 2013

It had been raining for a couple of weeks and the creeks were up. A good time to visit some waterfalls. As I left home, it was  raining and the same on my return, but up in the mountains it was a fairly fine day – with even a little sun!

After a visit to the Lawson Cake Shop, I headed down Honour Avenue to the track to Adelina Falls. The falls are only a few minutes from the road. There was plenty of water going over the falls and it was time to pull out the camera. Winter is a bit of a gloomy time – and the light was a bit restricted.

Then, I followed Lawson Creek downstream to the junction with Ridge Creek. Here are twin waterfalls – Junction Falls. More photographs.

The track then continues to Federal Falls, which lies on a short side track up a different creek. Back on the main track, it continues up this creek, past a few small cascades to Cataract Falls. Not far above is a firetrail.

Instead of walking back to Lawson, I followed the fire trail downhill and around to Hazelbrook to the turn off to Victor and Terrace Falls.

The creek here was quite high too. In a few places, I took my shoes off to cross the creek bare footed.

After photographing the falls, I returned back up the track and then up to Terrace Falls Road to Hazelbrook Station.

A very pleasant day in the bush. More photographs are on my website here.
