Uloola Falls and Karloo Pool – Royal National Park – 15 June 2013

This was a pleasant walk from Waterfall to Heathcote via easy tracks and fire trails. On the way I visited Uloola Falls and Karloo Pool.

My walk started at Waterfall Station following a track (mainly fire trail) to Uloola Falls. At the falls is a campsite that is nothing special – it looks a bit worn out. I wonder if it is used much? The falls themselves are quite impressive. The creek tumbles over in a series of drops. It is possible to climb down to the bottom on either side of the falls. I tried to find some good places for photographs.

There are another set of falls upstream, smaller, that I didn’t visit.

I did visit a nice aboriginal art area on a rock platform 5 minutes away. As well as many sharpening grooves there are some rock carvings.

On the track to Karloo Pool I explored some of the Uloola Turrents – interesting rock formations.

I was pleasantly surprised by the clarity of the water in Karloo Pool. I was very clear indeed – not bad for a pool close to town.
