Anvil Rock – A Passing Storm – 25 November 2012

We had returned from a nice walk down the Coxs River. After the walk, we stopped at Blackheath for coffee. A well as the coffee, a storm was also brewing and we thought that it would be nice to go to a local lookout for a few photos.

I suggested Anvil Rock near Perry’s Lookdown. When we arrive at the lookout carpark – the storm hit. Heavy rain lashed the car. It was far too wet to venture out. The tempest did not last long as we soon could emerge and wander out to the lookout with our cameras.

Conditions were quite atmospheric. We stayed at the lookout for over an hour enjoying the view as the light changed.

Some classic Pierces Pass multi-pitch rock climbs are found on these cliffs. Thye include – the “West Face of the Mirrorball”, “Bunny Buckets Butress” and “Hotel California”
