Fungi at Coachwood Glen – 28 March 2018

This was a very pleasant visit with Liz to Coachwood Glen Reserve at Blackheath (on the Megalong Road).

We didn’t find a huge abundance of fungi out but with careful looking we did find quite a few interesting species.

Coachwood Glen is one place that you can normally observe Mycena interrupta – a beautiful blue species that can be found on rotten logs. It is easy to find in Tasmania, but much harder to find near Sydney.

Another species that you can often find at Coachwood Glen is the beautiful spine fungus – Hericium Coralloides.

We didn’t find too many waxcaps, and the ones we did find were in very low numbers. Here are some –

And some of the other fungi we observed –

We also spotted an interesting semi-slug –

Thanks to Liz for accompanying me on this visit. Her sharp eyes spotted a lot of the fungi we saw. More photos are online here on my website.
