Cooks River Birds – 6 February 2018

I spent a few hours in the afternoon down on the Cooks River photographing the birds. I started at the Dog Area and looked without success for the Tawny Frogmouth family.

Downstream was a nice Cormorant sitting on a pipe in the river.

At Cup and Saucer Creek was a Striated Heron –

I later saw this bird at the Boat Harbour. At the Boat Harbour, there was quite a large school of fish swimming around in the shallow water.

And a Pelican came and landed on the closed off peninsula –

The pair of Tawny Frogmouths were easily spotted sleeping in their tree –

Then the Striated Heron turned up –

Meanwhile, a White Faced Heron landed on the peninsula and started sunning itself, but was distracted by something –

It had caught a nice insect.

And a few more shots –
