Oatley Park – More Nature Photography – 10 December 2017

I enjoyed another nice day wandering around the tracks at Oatley Park. This turned out to be a very similar trip, both in route and with what I observed to my previous trip a few weeks earlier.

I started out along the track that traverses the west side of Lime Kiln Bay. On the way I spotted some nice Hyacinth Orchids and some other wildflowers –

Tufted Blue Lily – Thelionema caepitosum

On the boardwalk through the mangroves I was looking out for Sacred Kingfishers. I only spotted one, but was able to get some reasonable photos, despite it being a fair way away. I was hard in the subdued lighting of the mangroves to get good photos of it flying. I did not see it with food, nor going to any of the nearby nest holes.

A few more birds and flowers –

I then crossed the creek and continued around the headland of Oatley Park. More Hyacinth Orchids (Dipodium variegatum)and Bonnet Orchids (Cryptostylis erecta) –

A few more birds and flowers –

Perhaps Caesia parviflora

Perhaps a Brown Thornbill

I then walked back up to the picnic area at the top of the hill, and then back down to Lime Kiln Bay. More Hyacinth Orchids on the way down (Dipodium roseum)-

I finished off my visit with some more photos taken at the Wetlands –

Sulphur Crested Cockatoo

Black Faced Cuckoo Shrike

Australasian Grebe

Chestnut Teal
