Nature Along Wolli Creek – 31 October 2017

It was time for another walk along the Two Valleys Track at Wolli Creek. I started at Bexley North and walked down to Turrella. Along the way I encounter a reasonable amount of Nature. Not that many birds – it was perhaps too hot and I was walking in the middle of the day.

Little Wattlebird

Here is some of what I saw –

Superb Fairy Wren (male)

Superb Fairy Wren (female)

Skink

At the start of Girrahween Park I saw some people operating professional size drones near the bridge at Bardwell Park.

No orchids out yet that I could see, but I did spot some flowers developing.

Lower down I spent some time photographing the Flying Foxes. I was after some shots of mothers flying with their babies clinging on. I was not successful here. Perhaps a bit early?

On the lower bank, I noticed quite a few holes in an area I often look for fungi. I think these may be Spotted Pardalote nests?

Lower down at the crossing of Wolli Creek at Turrella, I watched a White Faced Heron being harassed by a Willie Wagtail. The Heron soon flew off. The Willie Wagtail must have a nest nearby. They are brave little birds.
