Taronga Zoo – 28 July 2017

This was another pleasant day at Taronga Zoo photographing the animals.

One of the animals I was keen to see and try and photograph was the new baby Langur. I visited their enclosure a number of times, and was eventually fortunate to see the mother with the baby fairly close to the observation window. The Langur babies are born bright bright orange. Quite different to their darker parents. So it is good to see them when they are young.

In the Blue Mountains section, it was also good to see the two resident platypus both active. One was in the upper pool which is quite dark and hard to get focus in wit the low winter sunlight. It was swimming underwater and occasionally coming to the surface for air. It once came part way out of the water – but only for a very short time. The other platypus was swimming underwater in the lower pool. Easier to see when it not under the overhang, but hard to get good photographs as it did not seem to come to the surface in the visible part of the pool.

Here are some of the other animals that I photographed – including the baby elephant and the baby pygmy hippo –

More photos are online here on my website.
