Goochs Crater Walk – 17-18 June 2017

I joined a large group that headed up to Goochs Crater in the Wollangambe Wilderness to celebrate two birthdays. This was a very pleasant weekend.

I headed up early, on the Friday afternoon with Digi Dave, and at dusk we went to Sublime Point lookout at Leura to photograph the sunset. It was not very impressive being quite overcast. We later camped at Perrys Lookdown.

Then at Blackheath on Saturday morning, we met up with the rest of the party. Some groups were going to the crater via different routes, so we split up.

The way I went in, from the Dumbano Firetrail, was only a short walk. Once at Goochs Crater we then left out packs in the big camp cave nearby and explored the surroundings.

That evening, we enjoyed a pleasant time around the fire.

After lunch on Sunday we headed back out.

I also made a short video, shot from a UAV near the Crater –

More photos are online on my website here.
