Storm Watching at Balls Head – 17 February 2017

I had been watching the weather radar and could see thats some thunderstorms were on their way. So I jumped on a train and headed to Waverton and then walked the short distance to Balls Head.

At the head, there are a few good places – rock ledges, that provide good outlooks towards Sydney – the city, the bridge and up the harbour. Ideal places for some storm watching. Nearby are a few rock overhangs to shelter in if the weather gets too wild.

It was interesting watching the storm approach. I tried , not very successfully to capture a lightning strike. The the rain hit, so I retreated into one of the caves and sat it out for half an hour or so when the storm passed over.

Then a few more photos, and I headed home.

More photos are online on my website here.
