Tahmoor Gorge and the Mermaids Pool – 9 February 2017

I headed with David Hufton down to Tahmoor Gorge for some photography. It was cloudy earlier in the morning – nice conditions to photograph waterfalls and a gorge. But when we arrived most of the cloud had burnt off.

We walked down from Rockford Bridge to the Mermaids Pool, and then spent some time photographing. I used my small drone to get some video of the area.

We then walked further down. along the side of the gorge for more photos, and more video using the drone.

We then followed the track to overlook the lower part of the gorge. More nice views and some more video.

We then walked back up, past the Mermaid Pool to the See Through Pool to find a shady spot for lunch and to have a swim. By this time, it was quite hot.

Later, back at the carpark, we had another swim in the nice pool near the bridge.

Tabmoor Gorge is part of the proposed Bargo Nepean National Park. It is a very scenic area and deserves national park status from its scenic values alone. Unfortunately it seems a lot of visitors do not care too much for the beauty of the area. There was a lot of rubbish – especially discarded bottles – plastic and glass. A shame!

Here is my video taken using the drone (best viewed full screen at high resolution) –

More photos are online on my website here.
