Cooks River Bird Photography – 4 November 2016

After hearing about the Tawny Frogmouth chcks, some friends were keen to come along and spend a morning photographing them and some of the other birds along the river. So I met up with Ken, Brian and Digi Dave, all with our cameras.

I could not relocate one of  the Tawny Frogmouth families. As the chicks get older – they seem to move a fair bit each day when they return close to their nesting site and sleep during the daylight hours.

The other family, was still in the tree I had seen them earlier, and we spent a bit of time photographing them. They were not in an ideal position for photography and the light was a bit contrasty.

Nearby was a large flock of corellas.

And Brian spotted a koel trying not to look conspicuous in a tree.

When we later went to the nearby Cup and Saucer Creek Wetland – I spotted the turtle, sitting on its usual rock. But it was fast, and had dived off – before I could snap a photo.

Beautiful pictures David. I visited there but missed the birds.
You posted a Video in 2011 on Youtube of a ride along Cooks Cycleway
to Prospect. This was one of my favourite rides while I visited Sydney from
Canada in 2015. I use your video (and your other one too) while exeercising
on the stationary bike at the gym.
I would be forever grateful if you could post the complete video of that
ride if it is still on your computer somewhere.
No need to fancy it up or anything as I can do some editing if is required.
    Cheers Jim
