Sculpture By The Sea – Tamarama to Bondi – 21 October 2016

I arrived at Tamarama a little before sunrise and started to wander around the exhibits. Some were quite interesting. I intended to come back to Tamarama later on, so I could examine them in more detail then. Time to look for a good location for sunrise.

I started on the Coastal Walkway to Bondi, and the sun soon rose up into a small cloud layer. The atmosphere was quite interesting. I continued along – battling with other photographers for the best positions and trying to avoid the passing parade of joggers out on their dawn run.

Things were a lot  easier at the park on the headland before Bondi. I spent a fair bit of time here photographing the sculptures – looking for good angles and good lighting.

I then continued on the path towards Bondi – but this year there was not much to see past the point. A lot of that pathway was destroyed by big storms a few months back. You can still ask along the pathway, but there are temporary sides covered with safety tape – and not many sculptures.

So, I headed back to the park and spent more time there waiting for good photographic opportunities. I finished by heading back to Tamara and then along to Bronte to catch a bus to Bondi Junction Station.

Again, as in previous years, there is a wide range of interesting sculptures. You do get the feeling with perhaps half of the exhibits that they are very close to things you have seen there before. Perhaps the artists tend to work with the same materials and produce similar stuff?

I will try and visit at least once more this year.
