Day 12 - September 19 - Gruben (Meiden) to St Niklaus
It had been worth waiting the day before in Gruben - I woke up to fine
weather. it was a beautiful day with some nice atmospheric mist. It
starts with a big climb up to the Augstbordpass (2894m)

Above - near the pass I passed this small tarn. The surface had a thin layer of ice

Above - At the Augstbordpass I decided to climb the Schwarzhorn (3201m)
- the peak to the right - this was an excellent side trip.

Above - the delighful hamlet of Jungen perched high above the
Mattertal. The route of the next day goes from the hamlet on the other
side (Gasenreid) and crosses the outlet valley of the Reid Glacier
(Reidlerscher) - then traverses up the valley on the right at about the mist level
